Independent private wealth management in Canberra

Ongoing management of substantial wealth, for a flat fee rather than a percentage of your balance. We aren't a bank or an institutional wealth arm, and we don't have financial links to product manufacturers. Just considered advice focused on your interests as your wealth grows.

1%

Only around 1% of financial planners in Australia are independent. We are one of them.

Independent means no commissions, no kickbacks, and no ownership or ties to a product provider like a bank or super fund.

Why growing and managing wealth needs expert advice

We find that once our clients have built substantial wealth, their challenge changes. It is no longer about getting started, it becomes about managing the increased complexity that has grown along side the wealth. It can be more difficult to have a cohesive plan around super, investments outside super, property, trusts or companies, insurance and tax.

Furthermore, most people in this position have picked up a range of professions including advisers, accountants and brokers, and no single person looks at the whole picture. Often they have been offered "private wealth" by a bank or an institution, where the advice comes attached to that institution's own products and a fee that takes a percentage.

That percentage based fee is worth pausing on.

  • On a substantial balance, an asset-based fee can become substantial.

  • A conflict exists where your advice fees are higher depending on the strategy you pursue.

  • For example, if fees are based on assets under management, the advice is more expensive if you have more money invested than paying off debt.

What independent private wealth management looks like

We are independent in the way the word is supposed to mean. We take no commissions, we are not owned by a bank or a product manufacturer, and we do not have financial ties to a product manufacturer. Critically for larger balances, we charge a flat, agreed fee for advice rather than an asset-based percentage. Your bill does not increase just because your portfolio did.

That independence is the whole point of private wealth management done properly. When the person advising you has nothing to sell and no incentive tied to where your money sits, the advice can stay focused on you.

"I would highly recommend Andrew to anyone who would like to take a 'back-seat' approach to managing their financial portfolio, knowing that they are in safe hands"

Frequently asked questions

Wealth that needs proper management

If your financial life has grown complex enough that no one holds the whole picture, it is worth having someone independent who does, and who charges for the advice rather than a slice of your wealth.
